sunny and calm, almost spring, frosty and warm at the same time!?
Monday 23rd Feb
sunny & mild. 4 hares, no frog spawn. Twist came for a walk of his own free will !
Tuesday 24th Feb
work wrestling with old XP laptop with ancient software for specific jobs at work, frozen in time around 2012... but now won't work with a new version of an in-house app for a new model of test gear.... the joys of being an external contractor trying to keep up with client's software requirements but with no support from the client themselves...
Transplanted Dell laptop mouse buttons, Linux laptop left button v. poor, swapped button assy. from little-use Windows laptop, same model.
Experimenting with 11ty as a mechanism for creating the blog. A steep learning curve, but is it worth the work, for something I've already got a reasonably simple solution for? Do I want to spend more time learning 11th than just posting a blog post every now and then and moving on with life?
Wednesday 25th Feb
work a simple job to test emergency lights and found one that doesn't work....and inside it was filled with dead winged-ants. I didn't open it up - I'll leave that for someone else!
Decided to use Pure Blog and give up trying 11ty and also abandon Chyrp-Lite
Kate's pool team had a match at home, I was there as a spectator, not a player, and they won 10-6 which makes two wins in succession, after a win last week too!
Thursday 26th Feb
work a frustrating time at the Coastguard station wrestling with a PC that refused to record audio in a bespoke web-app running in Microsoft Edge. No obvious hardware issues. This particular Edge seemed to be unable to handle sound. Nothing seems different between this PC and the others in the Ops Room. Had to admit defeat and pass it back to the MCA's IT desk, as they remotely configure and administer the machines.
Spent rest of the day playing with Pure Blog - setting up various features and tweaking the CSS.
Pool match in the evening was cancelled by the opposing team - and they conceded defeat. A visit instead to a friend's house to play pool with the rest of the team in his den which has a pool table and a full acoustic drum kit and a sound system. Good fun.
