The current Trophy My 1991 model
My new 1991 Triumph Trophy 1200 is an early Hinckley Triumph made in 1991 and has
frame number 353.

Trophys are now firmly identified as tourers - with hard luggage and big fairings - but as you
can see the original ones were a lot more "sporting" in appearance amd there wasn't enough
to seperate the 1200 Trophy from the Daytona so they revised the models
to make one more "touring" oriented and the other more "sports" oriented.

I bought this one on September the 18th 1998 from DK in Stoke-on-Trent. I can't forget the date
because it is also coincidentally our 9th wedding anniversary.

Previously I had an old and well used CX500 with umpteen thousand miles on the clock
and a lot more not on it. I gave this to a bloke here who runs a part time Motorcycle
Training School and uses a CX himself. If he can use it for spares and keep up
the good work of teaching more bikers then that's all to the good.

Before that it was the ubiquitous Honda CB250N super dream
- the most aptly named bike ever NOT!

Both the 250N and the CX were in the compulsory matt black rat-bike uniform but I think
the Triumph can stay as it is!

From the information I have been able to find the original Trophy 1200 had a more powerful
engine than the current one - around 125bhp - and can do 1/4 mile in 11.5 sec/125 mph.
I haven't had the nerve to find out if that's true but it certainly has some ooomph to it!

In here are some pages devoted to my little Excel Sreadsheet
for calculating Motorbike Performance... This one came with Harrison Billet 6-pot calipers on the front, braided brake hose all round, Scottoiler and a Hagon monoshock.

The rear Dunlop that was on when I got it has been replaced with a Bridgestone BT57
to match the front and it gives a much smoother ride, is easier to turn in and
holds a line much better.

Update (16/5/99)

Read it all from start to finish!

It's fixed and back in my posession.
Took 6 weeks for DK and East Coast Superbikes to sort it out between them but I have it back now.
